Two of my favorite things are great local businesses and food.
Luckily for us, we’re fortunate to have so many locally-owned restaurants across Walla Walla, Kennewick, and Prosser.
With the recent challenges resulting in many of them having to close or find new ways to serve food, I asked our team to share their favorite local restaurants with you.
Here is the conclusive list of great places that we encourage you to visit and support during these difficult times.
Walla Walla
La Casita
A favorite of Dr. Whitney Jacky, this is a real family run restaurant where you instantly feel welcome. The owner, who first learned how to cook authentic Mexican food from his own Mother, now passes on the tradition in this beautiful restaurant which has been serving extraordinary Mexican food since 1990.
In her own words:
“As a Walla Walla native my family and I have celebrated almost every occasion in this restaurant, they now feel like an extended part of our family. They don’t even need to take our order anymore as they just know what we all want. If you want to visit a restaurant with a real family feel and caring staff don’t hesitate to visit La Casita.”
GRAZE
A favorite of Rhiannon, Graze has got to be one of the top restaurants in Walla Walla.
It’s fresh, it’s hearty and just what you need when you’re on the go.
Andrae’s Kitchen
A favorite of Hannah, Andre’s Kitchen is the best kept secret in Walla Walla. In her words:
“I just can’t express how much I love this little gem, tucked away inside a gas station is Andrae and his culinary geniuses. Serving up flavourful dishes such as Smoked meats, brisket, pastrami and bacon, just to name a few.”
It’s clear to see that Andrae has been passionate about food his whole life. That’s why this is my favorite lunch spot.
The food is always delicious!
Kennewick
Bookwalter Curbside (Pick-Up Available)
A fine dining experience where all meats are cooked to order. Chef Francisco Mendoza and Chef de Cuisine Albel Hammerstorm have carefully crafted this menu to include locally grown ingredients which are bursting with flavor.
With menu’s that change with the seasons, you’ll always find something to satisfy those taste buds.
I highly recommend the Upper Dry Creek Ranch Lamb Burger, upon ordering the charming young waiter suggested I paired it with a 2016 Readers Merlot, so I did. The combination was just stunning. Love this place.
Porter’s (Curbside Available)
I love a real barbecue! All meats are cooked up to 14 hours to allow for unbelievable flavor and an amazing eating experience. A locally owned business which started as a simple food truck has now transformed a knock out restaurant! I once heard they served up over 150lbs of barbecue in a matter of hours. (WOAH!)
With such a great menu selection to choose from I was spoilt for choice, however, I personally believe that you can’t go wrong with the brisket!
Aki Sushi (Curbside Available)
There is something about the true hospitality of the Japanese cuisine that I Adore. They provide fresh fish all year round which enhances the already amazing flavors of their dishes.
I highly rate what this restaurant offers, a great curbside service so you can enjoy your favorite dishes from the comfort of your own home.
I strongly recommend that you try the incredible Northwest Philly Rolls. You won’t be disappointed.
Greek Island (Curbside Service)
A locally owned take-out and delivery service where the staff always have a smile on their faces. With such a warm welcoming environment it’s impossible not to enjoy.
Their Chicken Gyro is my ultimate favorite dish, bursting with incredible flavors you can’t help but love.
Prosser
Whitstran
One of my personal favorites. I love how friendly the staff are here. The warm inviting atmosphere just makes me feel at home. Whitstran just gets everything right in my opinion, the drinks are to die for and I love the side salads dressed to perfection.
Just YUM!
El Caporal
A favorite of Dr. Kevin Liebe, El Caporal is a spice lovers dream. In his own words:
“I have a real addiction to food with a bit of heat but not enough to make smoke come out my ears. I love how El Caporal just nails it every time with their famous nachos. The combination of the spicy tingle with the fresh sour cream just does it for me everytime. I can’t recommend this small family business enough.”
Support your local restaurants. They need you.
Wishing you all well and stay safe from all of us here at Sound Audiology.
